Natural loosefill made by MXT of Amarillo, Texas is a natural; a biodegradable "peanut" packing product that is unique in the industry.

 

Made from grain protein, natural loosefill is not a starch based product, but rather gains its characteristics due to unusual and rare protein chains inherent in the plant. Nature has provided and alternative to petrochemical-based plastics.

Special Characteristics:

  1. Biodegradable by ISO definition. I.e. Capable of being consumed by bacteria to the point at which there is NO toxic residue .
  2. Hydrophobic in nature and therefore will not absorb water from the air and shrink in high humidity.
  3. Anti-static - due to the 10% moisture level of natural stability - product is highly conductive. This factor passes electrical charges away quickly inhibiting there built-up.
  4. High level of memory - This means that natural loosefill has a very low "crush rate" adding additional protection to you shipped goods.
  5. Easy to dispose. The proper means of disposing loosefill offers several alternatives. It may be simply thrown into an environmentally active landfill without any environmental negative. It may be thrown out on a lawn and used to fertilize the grass. It may be recycled to reduce overhead.
  6. Prevents Migration. Due to its "abrasive on to itself" characteristic, natural loosefill will prevent migration within the box of even very heavy objects. This helps reduce damage caused by heavy shipped objects "sinking" to the bottom of the box.
  7. Totally Safe to Use - Natural loosefill is made by extruding plant protein and water; therefore no toxic chemicals are used in the product. No MSDS is required, as the product is all plant fiber and protein.
  8. Long Shelf-Life - Although Natural packing will biodegrade when exposed to rain or water directly, if stored properly it has a unlimited shelf life.
  9. Pest Resistance - Grain is a favorite food for lesser animals such as mice. However since the Extruded product has been altered by removing the fat and sugars, it is not digestible and mice and rats are not attracted to it. In laboratory tests done at a college natural packing was found to have the same attraction factor as polystyrene. Each will harbor rodent nest if improperly stored.
